Find a Picture of a Straw House and add the description
  1. The house is insulated with straw
  2. Straw is a good natural insulator
  3. The Foundation is rubble and the strawbales are filler.
  4. The heating is solar, and the panels are on the roof
  5. The clay plaster is another environmental feature

Caves and Underground
 
For various reasons, mostly the heat and high temperatures, many civilizations build homes under the ground.
 
Have a look at the images, and select some different images to show in your Power Point about different homes.
 
 
 
 

Create a Presentation  on one or more of the Following:
  1. Caves, Underground homes
  2. Water homes, house-boats, yachts, underwater homes
  3. Tents...Indians, Bedouins, arabs, snow tents, vacation tents
  4. Apartments on ships: The World
  5. Igloos, ice houses, snowy mountain homes,
  6. Tree Houses...tropics, holiday and designer homes
  7. Rural and country properties, farms and  outdoors
  8. Living in space..Satellites, and rockets.

You may also use your own ideas of homes and houses....

Listening Activity: Building Houses that are healthier for people and the Planet

  • A green house is the result of a movement to produce houses that are less harmful to the environment than other houses.
  • Green houses are designed to be sustainable.  Something that is sustainable provides people today with what they need. But it does not use up or damage the natural resources that people will need in the future.
  • Green houses use much less fossil fuels – oil, gas and coal – for energy.  The houses

    are placed on the land so the sun warms them during cold months and is blocked during hot months.
 

Design a Room that you would love to own..

Task 2 : Create the Perfect Room
 
  • Using pictures and ideas from the Internet and Google, create the perfect bedroom or Study for you.  Design the colors, the furniture, the carpets and curtains and everything you would need to have the best room for yourself.
  • Show each part in the Power Point, and tell what you have chosen and why.
  • Record your voice and prepare the show. Share with a friend.
